Best Places to WiFi
Here are my favorite places to Wifi for FREE:
1. BAANG COFFEE - Tomas Morato (across Chili's)
Baang Coffee is almost always open. Very early in the morning until very early in the morning! At napaka-efficient ng kanilang Wifi connection. Bihira itong down. Kung magkaproblema, very helpful ang staff to assist you. Malaki ang place so laging may table. Puwedeng sa mezzanine para konti lang ang tao and you are more secure when surfing not-so-wholesome sites. Puwede ring sa 1st floor para malapit ka lang sa counter kapag gusto mong umorder. Malawak din ang kanilang al fresco smoking area.
Wide din ang choices sa kanilang menu, from coffee to fruit shakes, desserts to pasta to rice meals. Favorites ko ang Twice-Cooked Adobo, Chicken Parmigiana, Iced Green Tea, NY Cheesecake at Raisin Oatmeal Cookie. A P150 budget is good enough. Eye candy rin ang kanilang waiters.
Crowds consists mostly of students and young professionals na du'n nag-aaral at nagi-internet. Maayos naman sila.
Ang down side lang dito, traditional coffee shop ang set-up so kung mag-isa ka, hindi mo basta-basta maiiwan ang laptop mo para umorder. Not that meron nagnanakaw ru'n (on the contrary, sinoli pa nga ng staff ang aking cellphone nu'ng naiwan ko 'to ru'n), pero iba na rin ang safe.
2. PLACEMAT PINOY CAFE - Tomas Morato (near McDo)
Dito kami madalas mag-meeting so expect TV people crowds here. Pero once in a while, meron ding mga young professionals na nagha-hangout dito. Dati pa nga nagpe-perform dito sina Kyla, Jay-R and you get to watch them for free!
Maayos at mabilis din ang kanilang free Wifi connection so surf away! May mga waiters sila so you don't have to abandon your laptop when you need something.
Medyo limited nga lang ang menu. Reco ko ang Patatas Croquetas, Suman, Embo Rice & Shine, Bistek Tagalog. Buhay ka na sa P150 budget!
Hindi nga lang masyado nagpupuyat ang resto na ito.
3. ROBINSON'S GALLERIA
Only the best mall in the world for offering Wifi for Free! Anong sinabi ng Greenbelt at Gateway?!
Pero hindi naman yata buong mall hotspot. To be sure, go to the East Wing establishments. My favorite is Figaro kasi you can hang out near the counter, or sa may mall center na, or du'n sa kanilang enclosed and airconditioned smoking area. Maganda rin ang signal sa Pancake House (masarap pa ang pagkain and you don't have to leave your table when you need to order).Oh, nakapag-Wifi na pala ako sa Thai Kitchen sa East Wing Basement din.
Medyo mas hindi reliable nga lang ang kanilang connection pero if it's up, mabilis naman.
Beware of Starbucks sa may Cinema, though. Ilang beses ko nang trinay na mag-Wifi du'n pero laging down. Mahina yata ang signal du'n so I always end up transferring to the East Wing.
The other places I've Wified in are not worth mentioning anymore because you'll have to pay 100 bucks for a mere 50-60 minutes of surfing time. At a time na a fairly good internet cafe like Netopia charges as low as P25 per hour! Talk about corporate greed! Kaya pakiusap ko sa mga establishments na naniningil pa rin ngayon ng Wifi, follow the lead of Baang, Placemat and Galleria and watch your business increase! Just try visiting Baang at 2 in the morning.
